8404 Diorama Studios

The mojo hasn’t been lacking, nor has the flesh, but the dreaded intrusion of the 1:1 has managed to firmly wedge itself into my path through the past few months. Fortunately it hasn’t been in a bad way at all. In fact it was rather fortuitous, more about that in a minute! As the title said, Apologies – apologies for the lack of updates, you know why now and that 8404 Studios hasn’t vanished into the ether.

For some time now Household6 has been making noise about finding a vacation/retirement property that had amenities and we didn’t have to do all the yard work on, etc. She had her heart set on being near a beach, but I’m not exactly keen on having the ocean as a neighbor (not after riding out a Cat 2 hurricane at Camp LeJeune); well, she found a place that checked all the boxes 6 got the amenities, services, and beach. I got quiet (no tourist season); no oceanic neighbor (the beach is on a large lake) and a by God real studio! The previous owner was an artist, I inherited her large well lit, ready to use studio. I’m hoping that she approves that her space will continue to be used for creation (she passed on prior to our purchase). No more repurposed basement space. Well lit, roomy. All mine. My bench will truly be mine since I have been coming up with the design and layout.

So, for the time being we will be splitting time between both locations, 8404 Studios North and 8404 Studios South. Which will also mean transporting things back and forth safely between the two, challenge accepted. I am starting to think of the actual studio space as my Fortress of Solitude, if it’s good enough for Superman then I think I rate one, too. Thanks for indulging me, now let’s get back to building things. I’m going through polystyrene withdrawl!
