The work on the Chinook continues, while it’s not one of those kits you toss the glue in the box and shake to get your helo built — it has definite potential with some after market and TLC it can build up into something nice. Most welcome of the aftermarket parts I’m opting for, the Eduard Big Ed set arrived last Thursday. Much of the first fret goes into the cockpit along with a few bits from the other two frets in the interior set; the kit’s instrument panel is nice, but the multipiece panel in the Eduard set really makes it pop; same deal with the other IP replacements in the set, with the added bonus that I don’t have to worry about a slip while I’m trying to paint a miniscule detail. There are also the standard warning and emergency exit placards for the rear compartment. One head scratcher though – why is it that an interior mesh grill is in the exterior set? Inquiring minds want to know, but the world may never have that answer. Our Sh**hook project is progressing nicely, and I am quite thankful for that.
Which brings us to our dilemma. The MH-60 project which is in a holding pattern waiting for parts…well, most have arrived and the rest which I’ve been waiting for Werner’s Wings to release are coming. So, ‘twould seem that shortly the hook is going to go into the holding pattern for a while. Or do I keep the MH 60 in the holding pattern a little longer and push harder to get the hook finished? I know that working on both at the same time isn’t realistic – as much as I would like it to be. Such decisions…
